klocate project is a a frontend for GNU locate.
klocate project is a a frontend for GNU locate.

It relies on an installed locate and a regular updated locatedb.

This program comes with the S.u.S.E distribution and I guess with others too.

It should be available on the popular Linux ftp sites.

klocate works really simple : it takes your input you made in the text line and executes locate with that. The result is shown in the list below.

You can open a context menu on each item offering the choice between opening the file or the parent directory with kfm.

If locate issues the warning that your locatedb is out-dated there will be a warning in the status bar.

I just wrote it as I recognized that I open a kvt from time to time to issue a locate command.
