Xfbib For Linux

Xfbib is a completely free, open source and lightweight graphical software project tailored specifically for the Xfce desktop environment and designed from the offset to act as a standards compliant and simple BibTeX editor.

It’s aim is to provide an efficient and easy-to-use software for editing BibTeX files under the Xfce desktop environment or any other open source window manager or desktop environment, including Cinnamon, GNOME, LXDE or Openbox. If you have any idea what BibTeX is, you should encounter no problems when using Xfbib.

With Xfbib, users will be able to edit almost every aspect of a BibTeX file, from the title, publisher, and author, to editor, institution, organization and type. The software is designed to work on any GNU/Linux operating system, as long as Gtk+ 2.10.x or higher, libxfce4util 4.4.0 or later and libxfcegui4 4.4.0 or higher software projects are installed.

After installing the application, you can fire it up from the Office section of your desktop environment’s main menu. The software will open with an empty entry, so you should press the Open File button or go to File -> Open to open and edit an existing BibTeX file. You can also create a new BibTeX file by start adding entries.

Each new entry requires you to choose a BibTeX type (book, article, booklet, manual, master’s thesis, incollection, conference, PhD thesis, inbook, proceedings, tech report, misc or unpublished) and key, as well as to add information about title, author, editor, publisher, publication, etc.

In addition to entries, users can add variables, which can also be removed or edited at a later time. The progress can be saved after finishing editing a BibTeX file.
