Wooty is a small perl/gtk script created by Eric Parish. The program is designed to check woot.com for new items without having to open up a browser. Wooty is designed for the GNOME desktop and Linux/Unix platforms.

Wooty is licensed under the GNU GPL and is provided without warranty.

woot.com is a cool online retailer that sells one item per day. Note that wooty is not supported or affiliated with woot.com.

Requirements:

Perl Modules
- Gtk2
- Gtk2::TrayIcon
- URI::URL
- LWP::UserAgent
- notify-send

Installiation:

Install requirements
Ubuntu: sudo apt-get install libwww-perl libgtk2-perl libgtk2-trayicon-perl libnotify-bin
Extract archive
tar -zxf woot-0.1.tar.gz
Run install.sh
./install.sh
Add wooty as a startup program in your GNOME session

Main features:

  • Tray Icon - sits in GNOME tray
  • Notification Alert - displays notification for new items
  • Fast - wooty only downloads plain text from woot.com
