    SerLooK description

serlook is a tool aimed to inspect and debug serial line data traffic developed in a Linux KDE environment.

SerLooK project is a tool aimed to inspect and debug serial line data traffic developed in a Linux with KDE environment.

It can work as a classic point-to-point serial terminal mode or as a line snooper , monitoring the data exchanged between two hosts (needs a PCs equipped with at least two serial ports and a derived cable).

The data are first recorded on log files then displayed in the related views.

When serlook works in point-to-point mode, it is possible to send and receive data, while in snooper mode only data receiving is allowed.

Actually serlook has a MDI interface so, a view is, in fact, a child window.

Here are some key features of "SerLooK":

    · Terminal view, is a classical VT102 emulation window. It can receive data and send keystrokes.
    · Dump view, displays the data as binary, octal, decimal or hexadecimal codes. It can display received data or, if configured as a writing view, it can send directly the entered codes.
    · Event view, displays a list of all the serial events detected: data chunks sent and received and modem lines state changes.
    · Each view have its properties, that can be saved, together with the global serlook properties, in session files that can be reopened later.
    · When reopening an existing session file, all the data previously monitored and exchanged are reloaded in the serlook buffers, together with the event records, but you can still flush them in any time.
    · It is also possible to send files, but only in a plain binary sequence without any protocol.

    What's New in This Release:

    · This release adds the icons missing in 0.3.2-B.
    · It rebuilds the kdevelop project from scratch with kdevelop 3.4.0 so that the icons are ok and the application icon should appear in the about box.
