Kommander Interactive Help dialog uses basic HTML markup and can even be automated to visual writing with just a little work. Here's what it offers:
· tree strucuture topics
· rich text content
· can include images
· can be opened to the topic of choice (it could even be made to go to a line)
· all topics and headings saved in separate text files for easy editing
· creates example files if there are no topics (back up your help files in case this is deleted)
· the most innovative feature is the note section which does some tricky things to stay small until you use it, even though it's in a splitter
It has been shown that people retain over twice as much when taking notes, so every help file should have one of these. The note file is a separate text file that is auto generated, so while they could be shared, or sent to developer, they are not automatically included in a copy of help, topics and content.
