JEvent is a set of document sand implementations aimed at using XMPP and XMPP Publish-Subscribe.
JEvent is a set of document sand implementations aimed at using XMPP and XMPP Publish-Subscribe as a basis for Event Driven Architecture (EDA).

The specifications are beeing developed together with implementations beein deployed to solve problems at Stockholm university. This material is presented in the hopes that it will be useful.

Currently JEvent only exists as a set of client-side libraries and components. The message-hub used for JEvent is a standard XMPP (eXtensible Message and Presence Protocol) server with support for JEP-0060. The easiest server to get started with is j-eai, an extension of ejabberd which adds more support for Publish-Subscribe. Note that the client-side components and integration libraries provided with j-eai is an alternative approach to EDA using PubSub which can coexist with JEvent.

The JEvent implmentation comes in two versions currently: a perl-implementation based on Net::XMPP and a j2ee-implementation tightly integrated with the JBoss AS.
