Gnotero is a Python/GTK software that provides access to your Zotero references. Zotero is an excellent open source reference manager, but it lacks a simple and direct way to access your references at the click of a button.
That is why I created this simple program, which lives in the system tray and allows you to search through your references by Author and/ or Year of Publication. If a PDF file is attached to a reference you can open it directly from within Gnotero.
The first time that you start Gnotero you have to tell it where your Zotero folder is. If you don't know, you can find the location of this folder by opening the Advanced tab of the Zotero preferences in Firefox.

· Notable additions are the option to search based on clipboard contents and "gnoteroctrl", a new command line tool for controlling Gnotero (i.e., make Gnotero pop-up and perform a search). Gnoteroctrl is mostly useful for creating a Gnotero keyboard shortcut.
· In addition, Gnotero is now on GitHub, so you can always get the latest code snapshots.
