FusionInventory Agent is an open source, free and platform-independent application implemented in Perl and designed from the ground up as a web-based tool that acts as a bridge between major free software products, such as GLPI, GOSA, OPSI, FAI and the Tracker plugin.
Supports GLPI Tracker and OCS Inventory plugins
This application is engineered in such a way that it’s fully compatible with the GLPI (Gestionnaire Libre de Parc Informatique) Tracker and OCS (Open Computer and Software) Inventory plugins. It supports computers, network devices, printers, virtual machines, and Android smartphones.
Supported operating systems
This is a cross-platform software that supports numerous GNU/Linux distributions, including Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Fedora, Gentoo, Mageia and OpenMandriva, various BSD flavors like FreeBSD and OpenBSD, Solaris, AIX and Mac OS X operating systems.
Under the hood
The software is written entirely in the Perl programming language and requires a variety of Perl modules, including File::Which, Text::Template, LWP, UNIVERSAL::require, Net::IP and XML::TreePP.
In addition, it requires the Compress::Zlib module for compressing messages, HTTP::Daemon for the web-based interface, IO::Socket::SSL for supporting the HTTPS protocol with certificate validation, Proc::PID::File and Proc::Daemon for the daemon mode, Net::CUPS for detecting printers, and Parse::EDID for identifying screens.
The dmidecode and lspci utilities are also required for hardware inventory. The program is fully compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures and can be downloaded from Softpedia as a universal sources archive, free of charge.
