Flightdeck-UI is an Open Source product that utilizes the ideas in aircraft controls and instruments.
The system has been developed by Open Light Software Inc. Flightdeck-UI uses the Python programming language, and also requires Tkinter. The current release provides a complete monitoring application called the Multi-Variable Monitor (MVM).
A library for creating flightdeck-style user interface elements is also included. Recently, a web-based version (Flightdeck-UI Online) has been added.
MVM allows virtual Flightdeck-UI control panels to be created without writing code (although you are very welcome to develop plug-in modules).
The application integrates a graphical editor for combining Flightdeck-UI elements into a monitoring console. The graphical editor produces a plaintext control file (which can later be modified with any text editor, or once again with the MVM graphical editor).
MVM can also run the control file in a small window on the desktop. MVM has many customization features, including theme support. It comes with several example control files and themes to help you get started.
