PISMO For Linux
A cross-platform software that recreates the writing style of old Slavonic church books. #Word processor #Slavonic church book #Slavonic document #Slavonic #Word #Book
PISMO is a commercial and cross-platform graphical software that has been designed from the ground up to let users write text that looks very similar to the writing style of old Slavonic documents and books used in churches.
The application allows you to import and export documents in the RTF (Rich Text Format) and HTML (HyperText Markup Language) formats, as well as to choose between three different modes, to copy and paste text, or to use diacritics.
To try the PISMO application on your GNU/Linux computer, you must first download the demo archive from Softpedia by clicking on the Download button above, selecting the ZIP archive and wait for the download process to begin (click on the Manual Download button if it doesn’t start).
Save the files somewhere on your computer, open it with your favorite archive manager and extract its contents to a location of your choice (e.g. your Home folder). Open the extracted folder, enter the Linux subfolder and double-click on the PISMO executable.
The application will start immediately, notifying the user that certain functions aren’t available in the demo version, such as import, export, copy and paste. Click the ‘Start’ button to begin. On the next screen, you will have to choose between the Traditional, Phonetic or Glagolitic modes.
Choosing a text entry type will display the typing machine surrounded by all the functions enumerated above (most of them being disabled in demo mode).
PISMO is a cross-platform application that can be used on all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as on the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. In order to look and act exactly like it was designed by its developer, the software requires two fonts, which are included in the demo package distributed here on Softpedia.
