u2ps 0.8.4

Unicode to PostScript
u2ps is a text to PostScript converter tool, just like a2ps. Its key feature is extensive unicode support — unlike a2ps, it is not limited to single-byte iso-8859 variants and can easily handle multibyte encodings (such as UTF-8) with more that 255 characters actually used. u2ps is based on pure PostScript unicode rendering engine and requires no external libraries.

u2ps works with monospaced fonts only, as its primary purpose is printing plain text so that it would look close to the way it looks on unicode terminals. It is also able to interpret some ANSI terminal control sequences, mostly coloration and font style change, enough to print highlight output correctly. Basic features expected for utilities of this kind, like line numbering and wrapping, paper size selection and custom headings, are also implemented.

u2ps installation:

 ./configure --prefix=$prefix
 make install

Fontset FreeMono installation:

 ./configure --prefix=$prefix
 make install

Prefixes for u2ps and FreeMono should match. You can safely omit prefix for FreeMono if you already have u2ps installed when you run configure.
