XMLmind XML Editor
XMLmind XML Editor is a multiplatform, freely distributed and commercial graphical software project that has been designed from the offset to act as a handy tool for validating and editing XML files.
The software makes content authors more productive, excels at editing a mix of XML documents and data, features an integrated spreadsheet engine, offers a word processor-like view mode, and it's highly extensible through plugins.
Supports a wide range of document types
The software offers support for a wide range of document types, including DITA versions 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, DocBook versions 4 and 5, XHTML versions 1.0, 1.1 and 5.0, as well as MathML 2.0 Presentation Markup. In addition, it can be used with a custom schema or without a schema.
Supports several standards
The DTD (XML 1.0), W3C XML Schema 1.0, RELAX NG, Schematron, XInclude 1.0, XML catalogs, CSS 2.1, XSLT versions 1.0 and 2.0, as well as the < ?xml-model? > and < ?xml-stylesheet? > processing-instructions are among the standards supported by the XMLmind XML Editor application.
Attractive export and import features
Among numerous amazing features, the application also offers attractive export and import capabilities, such as the ability to convert XML documents to various HTML-based formats like XHTML 5, HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0/1.1, Web Help, HTML Help, Eclipse Help, Java Help, EPUB 2 and EPUB 3, to PostScript (PS) and PDF documents, or to LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice or Microsoft Word documents.
On the other hand, it supports importing of common image file formats, such as JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), EPS or PDF, supports importing of Microsoft Word documents, and supports importing of documents from other word processors, spreadsheets or web browsers.
Distributed in multiple editions
The project is available in two editions, the Professional Edition, which has lots of attractive features but costs around 400 USD (300 EUR), and the Standard Edition, which is totally free but has fewer functions than the Professional Edition.
