This Open Source project provides a toolset for working with ports and packages on BSD systems
pkgtools (also known as Portupgrade) is an open source command-line software targeted at BSD operating systems, allowing users to work with ports and packages.

The software is designed in such a way that is enhances the abilities of the built-in system tools and also implements new ones. It uses hash databases to store information about available and installed ports, as well as their dependencies, and highly tunable via its configuration file.

pkgtools comprises many utilities, among which we can mention portupgrade, portinstall, pkg_deinstall, pkg_fetch, pkg_which, portversion, portsclean, portcvsweb, pkgdb, and portsdb.
