opsi project provides a framework for remotely installing operating systems as well as a framework for automatic software distribution. Clients may be Windows or non-Windows work stations.

"opsi" stands for "open pc server integration".
opsi is open: All components of opsi are (GPL licensed) open source software. opsi has been open source since its very beginnings some 10 years ago.

Since opsi is open source, anybody may get the benefits of opsi for free.

Every administrator of a network should at least have a glance at the opsi system. There is a high probability that it perfectly meets his or her specific needs of operating system installation and/or software distribution.

And if not yet completely, opsi is in continuing development, and anybody interested may contribute!

The subjects of the opsi processes are PCs. The opsi system is intended to deploy software packages and initiate the installation of operation systems on PC work stations in networks. The network size may range from any small number of members up to thousands of clients.

The deployment processes are completely controlled from a central server. The administrative walk work is dramatically reduced.

The result is an integrated system of a server and its installation clients. This system integration will guarantee a big step towards minimizing costs of client administration in your network - therefore minimizing the total costs of ownership (TCO) of your pcs.
