UALinux For Linux

UALinux (Universal Application Pack) is one of the biggest third-party collection of software for Ubuntu, the world’s most popular free Linux operating system. It is a software repository for Ubuntu Linux that includes more than 500 applications and 300 games.

It is also available for many Ubuntu derivative operating systems, including Linux Mint, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Runtu, and others. The packages included in the repository are available for both 32-bit (x86, i386, x32) and 64-bit (x64, x86-64, amd64) architectures.

Updated ISO images with all the packages from a UALinux repository are available for download, but to add it to your Ubuntu system, download and install the following Debian archive: http://archive.ualinux.com/ubuntu/main/all/ualinux-repository.deb

The UALinux project is distributed as Live CD ISO images, supporting both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (amd64) Ubuntu installations, designed to be deployed on top of an existing Ubuntu system. A standalone version of UALinux that includes a full featured operating system based on Ubuntu and built around the LXDE desktop environment is also available for download.

While the regular UALinux Live CDs come with a standard Ubuntu boot menu, the standalone edition boasts a minimal boot menu that allows the user to start the live system with normal configuration or boot an existing OS from the local drive.

As mentioned above, the standalone UALinux version, which is distributed as a Live DVD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for 32-bit instruction set architectures, features the LXDE desktop environment, providing users with a traditional and responsive interface that comprises of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen.

Default applications include the LibreOffice office suite, WireShark network scanner, ClamTK anti-virus software, Gedit text editor, GPicView image editor, Midnight Commander file manager, TrueCrypt disk encryption utility, Xfburn CD/DVD burning software, and many others.
