FreeBSD GNOME Live CD For Linux

FreeBSD GNOME Live CD is an open source operating system based off of FreeBSD and designed to allow users to get a glimpse of the FreeBSD OS with the GNOME desktop environment on top.

Both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms are supported by the FreeBSD GNOME Live CD operating system, which is distributed as a dual-arch and hybrid ISO image that can be written on a DVD disc or a USB flash drive.

The Live DVD boot menu is identical with the one of the original FreeBSD operating system, allowing the user to boot the system in multi user or single user mode, escape to boot loader prompt, reboot the machine, as well as to configure advanced boot options.

The GNOME desktop environment used in this FreeBSD Live DVD seems untouched, providing users with a pure GNOME desktop experience. It comprises of a panel located on the upper part of the screen, from where users can interact with opened windows, launch applications or switch between virtual workspaces.

The FreeBSD GNOME Live CD includes mostly GNOME-specific applications and games, such as the Empathy multi-protocol instant messenger, Cheese webcam viewer, Evolution email and calendar client, Baobab disk usage analyzer, Nautilus (Files) file manager, Gnote note-taking app and Brasero CD/DVD burning software.

The GNOME Clocks, Chess, Dictionary, Documents, Calculator, Character Map, Contacts and Ekiga softphone are also included, along with the Five or More and Four-in-a-row board games.
