AWOS is a fast, optimized operating environment that aims to be fully POSIX-compliant.
AWOS is a fast, optimized operating environment that aims to be fully POSIX-compliant. AWOS is an acronym for Andrew Wilcox Operating System.

It does not use any code from Linux or any other projects; however, there is a small portion of the standard C library that was taken from OpenBSD.

AWOS is a free, open-source, fast, highly optimized operating environment. Care is taken to ensure that it can run on very old hardware, yet still allow it to take advantage of the newest platforms. It already has a minimalistic libc that can be compiled against. The syscall interface, to allow user-mode applications to run, is actively being developed.

What's New in This Release:

An almost-entire kernel rewrite, VGA graphics support (320x200x8), virtual consoles, and a new memory manager (still in development).
