|
sidux is a desktop-oriented distribution and live CD based on the unstable branch of Debian GNU/Linux. sidux is a desktop-oriented distribution and live CD based on the unstable branch of Debian GNU/Linux. This project was originally created by a group of developers who split from the KANOTIX project and launched their own distribution.
Here are some key features of "sidux":
· After three months of development, we are proud to announce the immediate availability of sidux 2007-02 for amd64 and i686 systems, shipping in a 425 MB lite KDE and a 690 MB full KDE flavor. Our second official sidux release has concentrated on overhauling the early boot sequence and adapting to a wider variety of desktop environments and window managers. While this release only ships in two KDE flavors (lite and full) again, we're looking for interested maintainers contributing to special purpose releases or tweaking support for other desktop environments and window managers.
What's New in This Release:
· A little later than planned due to a number of library transitions in Debian sid, we now have the pleasure to announce the immediate availability of sidux 2008-02 'Erebos', shipping in 'kde-lite' flavours for amd64 and i386, a combined i386 amd64 release with KDE for 'kde-full' and an xdelta to add initial localisations for all currently supported languages. Enhancing the sidux family, an Xfce variant has been added for amd64 and i386 architectures for the first time. 'Erebos' concentrates on integrating the changes caused by kernel 2.6.25.9, the addition of Xfce as a supported distribution variant, as well as several installer improvements and updating the packages affected by the OpenSSL security problems in Debian.
