siduction LXQt is an open source and free distribution of Linux based on the award winning, stable, reliable and highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system. It is oriented towards desktop users, providing them with a wide range of desktop environments, including the brand-new LXQt.
Availability, supported platforms and boot options
The distribution is available for download as a single Live DVD ISO image, specifically built for the 64-bit (amd64) instruction set architecture. Users can write it on a USB flash drive or burn it onto a blank DVD disc.
From the boot prompt, the user can start the live environment with default settings or in safe graphics mode, boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive, as well as to run a memory (RAM) diagnostic test.
A multitude of desktop environments
As mentioned, the operating system features the brand-new LXQt desktop environment, which is comprised of a taskbar located at the bottom edge of the screen, from where users can access the main menu, launch apps, interact with running programs or switch between virtual workspaces, as well as a dock located on the upper part of the screen.
Default applications include the QupZilla web browser, HexChat IRC client, qBittorrent torrent downloader, PCManFM file manager, medit text editor, Clementine audio player, VLC Media Player, XTerm terminal emulator, and Midnight Commander twin-panel file manager.
In addition, it also features the Qlipper clipboard manager, PdfViewer document viewer, ScreenGrab desktop screenshots utility, XSane image scanner, Ceni network manager, QTerminal terminal emulator, and Htop system monitoring tool.
Summing up, siduction LXQt is a fast, stable, reliable and lightweight distribution of Linux forked from the well known aptosid operating system and built around the recently released LXQt desktop environment, which is designed from the ground up as a drop-in replacement for LXDE and Razor-qt.
