quaggOS For Linux

quaggOS is an open source and completely free live distribution of Linux based on the Quagga routing solution and designed from the offset to be used as an OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routing system.

The quaggOS distribution can be downloaded from Softpedia as a Live CD ISO image that, despite the fact that is bootable on 64-bit and 32-bit computers, it contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit (i686) instruction set architecture.

The ISO image has approximately 100 MB in size. It’s a hybrid image that can be burned onto a CD disc or a Mini CD disc, or written on a USB thumb drive in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

The Live CD boot menu is very minimal, contains only a single options, the ability to start the live system with normal configuration. It is possible to edit this boot option and pass additional parameters to the kernel, in case you have some special hardware components that are not recognized by default.

Being designed to be as minimal as possible, the quaggOS operating system runs only on text mode. Use the “root” username (without quotes) to login. No password is set by default. The default language is English US, as well as the keyboard layout.

As of August 2014, the quaggOS distribution is no longer under active development, which means that it will no longer receive software updates or security patches. It has been archived for historical references purposes only.
