akiraLINUX (Lubuntu) is an open source operating system suitable for Linux beginners and experienced users alike. It is based on the Lubuntu Linux distribution and contains additional, ready-to-install applications for a variety of personal, professional and business tasks.
Available as a Live DVD only for the 32-bit architecture and German-speaking users
This akiraLINUX edition is available for download only as a Live DVD ISO image that supports the 32-bit (i386) hardware platforms, which means that it is also compatible with 64-bit systems. The user must burned the ISO image onto a DVD disc or write it on a USB flash drive of 4GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of the PC.
It features a minimal boot loader from where the user can start or install the distribution, test the computer's memory for errors, as well as to boot an existing operating system that is installed on the first disk drive. Keep in mind though, that the default language for the boot menu and live session is German.

The LXDE desktop environment has been highly customized in this operating system, providing users with a traditional graphical session comprised of a nonconformist taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where the user can easily and quickly launch applications and interact with opened programs.
