WebXperience OS is an open source Linux operating system designed to be used by individuals who want a secure Internet browsing experience and nothing more. It is an official fork of the popular Instant WebKiosk/UB Linux distribution, but tweaked for personal use, and not for public kiosks or multi-user environments.
Distributed as a 64-bit Live DVD
It is a Live Linux system that runs straight from an USB flash drive or DVD disc. It is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for 64-bit hardware platforms. Be aware that it is not compatible with UEFI Secure Boot.
Offers minimal boot options
The Live DVD boasts a single boot option, the ability to start the live system with normal configuration. Of course, experienced users can edit the boot line and pass extra parameters to the kernel. Please note that the ISO image has been instructed to automatically start the live system in 20 seconds from the moment the user boots it from the BIOS of a PC.
Based on Debian GNU/Linux
This browser-only distribution is based on Debian GNU/Linux and it will only presents a web browser when it runs. As with any live Linux system, after a hard reset the operating system will default to original values and any modification will be completely lost.
Built around Chromium
WebXperience OS is built around the Chromium web browser and supports printing (plug and print for common USB printers), wireless and wired networks (with static IP or DHCP). The system parameters are set by an user-friendly web-based interface.
Uses the Enlightenment desktop environment
In order for it to be as lightweight as possible, WebXperience OS uses the Enlightenment desktop environment. Please note that it is designed especially for Spanish-speaking users, but should support other languages as well.
