Wax OS For Linux

Wax OS is an open source distribution of Linux based on the world's most popular and free operating system, Ubuntu. It is a very stable distribution where everything just works, the way they are supposed to. The default and only desktop environment is KDE Plasma.

The distro can be downloaded as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image or approximately 1.5GB in size, deployable on 64-bit (x86_64) or 32-bit (i386) hardware platforms. It is a hybrid ISO image that can be written on either a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

From the boot menu, the user can start the live environment with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, start the installer directly, boot the live session with only a text terminal, start the live session without the boot splash, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive.

As mentioned, the default and only desktop environment of the Wax OS distribution is KDE Plasma, which uses a flipped layout for the panel and a bottom dock (application launcher).

Being built around the KDE Plasma desktop environment, the OS include mostly KDE-specific applications, among which we can mention the Rekonq web browser, Kopete multi-protocol instant messenger, Amarok audio player, Dolphin file manager.

In conclusion, Wax OS is a great and stable distribution of Linux that uses a highly customized KDE Plasma desktop environment on top of a powerful Ubuntu base.
