Voyager Debian is a special, open source and freely distributed edition of the Voyager Linux project derived from the highly acclaimed and award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the lightweight Xfce graphical desktop environment.
Currently, the Debian edition of Voyager Linux is available for download as a single and bootable Live DVD ISO image that has approximately 1 GB in size and contains software packages optimized only for for 64-bit (x86_64) computer architectures.
From the Live DVD boot menu, which appears immediately after booting the ISO image from the BIOS of your computer using either a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity, you can start the live system with support for a specific language (English, German, Korean, Italian, Russian, Spanish and French are supported), as well as to start the text-mode or graphical installation directly.
The default desktop environment of the Voyager Debian operating system is Xfce, which has been greatly customized to look as modern and possible, yet still low on resources and easy to use. It comprises of a dock (application launcher) located on the bottom edge of the screen, as well as a panel located on the upper side of the screen. It comes with a custom Main Menu applet.
Default applications include the gThumb and Ristretto image viewer, Icedove email and news client, Iceweasel web browser, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Transmission torrent downloader, Clementine audio player, Parole media player, PiTiVi video editor, and VLC Media Player.
The Xfburn CD/DVD burning software, WinFF multimedia converter, AbiWord word processor, Gnumeric spreadsheet editor, BleachBit system cleaner, Clipman clipboard manager, GTK Youtube Viewer, and Radio Tray radio player are also included.
