UbyOS is an open source operating system created by one of the biggest gaming community, trying to create the best free operating system in the world suitable for hardcore gaming. It uses a special desktop environment!

Distributed as 64-bit Live DVD

At the moment, UbyOS is distributed as a single Live DVD ISO image that has been engineered to support only 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms. It can be installed on a local hard disk drive or used as-is directly from a DVD media or USB stick.

Features standard boot options

The distro features a standard boot menu, which allows the user to start the live environment with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, start the graphical installer directly, perform a system memory test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive.

Unique desktop environment designed for gamers

The desktop environment of the UbyOS operating system is called AzureX and looks like the Cinnamon interface. It uses a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen.

It uses a modern main menu from where you can easily find and launch your favorite applications. Please note that you must login as guest (no password required) in order to access the graphical environment.

Default applications

Among the pre-installed applications, we can mention the powerful Steam gaming distribution platform, the lightweight Chromium web browser, the multi-protocol Pidgin instant messenger, the all-in-one Mozilla Thunderbird email, newsgroup and feed reader, as well as the flexible Rhythmbox audio player.

Bottom line

All in all, UbyOS is engineered to load quickly on any computer, it is secure by design, especially because it is based on the latest Linux technologies, it's accessible, translated into over 40 languages, and compatible with a wide range of devices and hardware components.
