Ubuntu Tutik Remix For Linux

Ubuntu Tutik Remix is an open source distribution of Linux based on the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and designed to be as lightweight and fast as possible.

The distribution is available for download as Live DVD ISO images, one for old 32-bit computers and another one for modern 64-bit machines. The ISOs must be written to DVD discs or USB flash drives in order to boot them from the BIOS of a computer.

From the Live DVD boot menu, the user will be able to start the live system with the default kernel, in safe graphics mode, in textonly mode or in debug mode without the boot splash, start the graphical installer directly, perform a system memory test, as well as to boot an existing OS from the local drive.

The distribution features a really great desktop environment that is built around the GNOME Classic interface and comprises of a panel and a dock (application launcher).

Among the pre-installed applications, we can mention the mtPaint graphics editor, Shotwell photo viewer and manager, Simple Scan image scanner, Empathy instant messenger, Midori web browser, Transmission torrent downloader and AbiWord word processor.

The Gnumeric spreadsheet editor, Brasero CD/DVD burning software, Cheese webcam viewer, PiTiVi video editor, Rhythmbox music player, Evolution email and calendar client and OpenOffice.org office suite are also included.

The Ubuntu Tutik Remix distribution is currently based on the Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) operating system, which means that it is no longer under active development and will not receive software updates or security patches. It has been archived for historical purposes only.
