TurnKey Zen Cart Live CD is an open source operating system based on award winning and extremely popular Debian GNU/Linux distribution. It has been designed from the ground up to be used as an appliance for effortlessly deploying the Zen Cart shopping application on any server machine.

Features at a glance

It comes with Zurmo configurations from upstream source code, installed by default to /var/www/zurmo, the phpMyAdmin administration front-end for the MySQL database server using SSL and listening on port 12322, and out-of-the-box support for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections.

Additionally, the distribution includes a Postfix server bound to localhost, which allows users to send emails, as well as Webmin modules for configuring Apache, MySQL, Postfix, and PHP.

Distributed as 32 and 64-bit Live CDs

This TurnKey project is distributed as Live CD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms (32-bit and 64-bit), as well as ready-to-use virtual machines in the Xen, OpenStack, OVF, OpenNode, and OpenVZ formats.

From the boot prompt, users can try the Live CD without installing anything on their computers (demo mode), as well as to directly install the operating system, without testing it. In addition, you can set various boot parameters using the F6 key.

Has no graphical desktop environment

Being a server system, this TurnKey appliance has no graphical desktop environment and asks users to set passwords for the root (system administator) account, the MySQL 'root' account, and the Zen Cart 'admin' account.

In addition, you must enter the email address for the Zen Cart 'admin' account and the domain to serve Zen Cart. Furthermore, you'll have to initialize he hub services (TurnKey Backup and Migration/TurnKey Domain Management and Dynamic DNS).

All the necessary information for accessing the web-based interface and shell, Webmin, phpMyAdmin, and SSH/SFTP accounts are automatically displayed at the end of the first boot configuration process. Zen Cart is an open source web-based shopping cart application that features support for multiple currencies and languages.
