ToOpPy Linux 1.0
Downloadable as a minimal, dual-arch Live CD
Being based on Puppy Linux, the distribution is downloadable as a minimal, dual-arch Live CD ISO image of approximately 200MB in size, engineered to support both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.
Minimal boot prompt that start the live environment automatically
The boot screen is very minimal, has no artwork and will start the live environment with default boot options and drivers in five seconds from the moment the user boots the Live CD from the BIOS of a computer. For advanced boot options, you should press the F2 or F3 keys before the timeout runs out.
Classic, traditional and familiar desktop environment
When entering the graphical session, the user will be prompted to select a language for the live environment, as well as to configure the screen resolution, country settings, date and time.
The desktop environment is quite traditional and familiar, comprised of a bottom panel and a dock (application launcher) located on the upper part of the screen.
Includes a bunch of lightweight applications
As expected for a 200MB distribution, it includes a bunch of lightweight applications, among which we can mention the InkLite, Viewnior, mtPaint, AbiWord, Geany, Gnumeric, HomeBank, gFTP, Transmission, Skype, uGet and Links.
In addition, it features a tiny set of free applications designed for easy customization and optimization of the workspace, such as 2Palt, 2Pdb, 2Pfx, 2Pmm, 2Ps2d and 2Psa.
In conclusion, ToOpPy Linux is a very small and extremely fast Puppy derivative that’s translated into the Danish, German, Greek, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch languages. It is suitable for both old and new computers, and includes a set of absolutely free software.
