T2 Linux For Linux

T2 Linux is a different kind of open-source operating system. It has been designed from the ground up to be used in the creation process of custom distributions of Linux. It’s a System Development Environment (SDE) based on the Linux kernel.

The T2 Linux distribution can be downloaded as minimal and installable ISO images for the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms, which must be burned onto CD discs or written on USB flash drives in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

Both ISO images use a minimal boot menu powered by GRUB, which has been designed to allow the user to start the installation with the default kernel or boot an existing operating system that is currently installed on the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.

After the live system boots, you will be dropped to a shell prompt where you must execute the “stone” command to perform a normal installation of T2 Linux. Otherwise, type the “stone -text” command to access an installer with non-dialog based menus.

Using the the normal installer, the user will have to choose a keyboard layout, partition the disk and start the installation process, which shouldn’t take more than 2 minutes on a computer with a decent processor and 1GB or RAM. When all the packages have been installed, you must set a password for the root (system administrator) account, set up the location and timezone, choose a locale and install the bootloader.

You can configure various other system settings, such as kernel drivers, network interfaces, peripherals, SSH daemons, runlevel services, as well as the package management system. Reboot the machine and use the root username and the password created during the installation process to login. Now you can start to create custom distributions of Linux!
