Snowlinux E17 is an open source distribution of Linux that uses the beautiful and futuristic Enlightenment desktop environment on top of the latest upstream version of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system, offering a fast, modern and productive desktop oriented OS.
Distributed as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVDs
The Enlightenment edition of Snowlinux is distributed as 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (amd64) Live DVD ISO images of approximately 1GB in size, which means that you must write them to DVD discs or USB sticks in order to boot them from the BIOS of the PC.
Minimal boot menu on the Live DVDs
Nothing new here, as all of the other Snowlinux editions use the same minimal boot menu that allows you to start the live environment with default drivers or in failsafe mode, in case some of the hardware components are not recognized by the first boot option, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk.
Futuristic desktop environment powered by Enlightenment
As mentioned, the operating system comes with the Enlightenment desktop environment, which uses a top panel for quick access to installed apps, which is also possible by right clicking anywhere on the desktop, and a bottom dock (application launcher and task manager).
Includes some of the best open source applications
The distribution includes some of the best open source applications, among which we can mention Geany Integrated Development Environment, Showell image viewer and organizer, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Transmission BitTorrent client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Audacious audio player, GNOME MPlayer video player, and Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client.
In conclusion, the E17 edition of Snowlinux provides users with a spectacular operating system powered by the latest Enlightenment desktop environment and upstream Debian GNU/Linux technologies.
