Salix OS KDE Live
Salix OS KDE Live is an open source desktop oriented distribution of Linux based on the well known Slackware operating system and built around the modern and productive KDE Plasma desktop environment.
Distributed as multi-language Live DVDs
The distro is distributed as multi-language Live DVD ISO images of approximately 1GB in size each, designed for both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures. Supported languages include English, Czech, Dutch, German, Greek, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Hungarian, Polish, Danish and Portuguese.
First, you must choose a language to use (see supported languages above), than you can start the live environment with default options, without support for ACPI, without SWAP, in text mode or using the persistent mode to save your session and reuse the bootable medium whenever you want (only if you’re using a USB thumb drive).
Beautiful KDE Plasma environment with a great selection of open source applications
The KDE Plasma desktop environment used in this Salix OS Live edition uses a single taskbar on the bottom edge of the screen from where the user can effortlessly launch applications, cycle between virtual workspaces and interact with running programs or the system tray functions.
Default applications include the Krita digital painting utility, Okular document viewer, QupZilla web browser, Wicd network manager, KMail email client, KGet download manager, ISO Master CD image editor, K3b CD/DVD/BD burning software, Clementine audio player, Dragon Player video player, and Calligra office suite.
Summing up, the live edition of Salix OS KDE is a powerful project that allows us to run the KDE Plasma environment in live mode without having to install anything on our computers. Tech-savvy users who want to use the traditional text-mode installer to permanently install this operating system on a local drive can use the Salix OS KDE distribution.
