SYS (formerly Monkeynet Linux) is an open source and freely distributed Linux kernel-based operating system derived from VectorLinux, which in turn is based on the Slackware distribution. It is primarily targeted at Linux beginners, as it is easy to install and to use.
It’s distributed as a dual-arch ISO image
The SYS operating system is distributed as a dual-arch ISO image that contains software packages optimized for both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures. The ISO image is hybrid and can be deployed to either a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive of 8GB or higher capacity.
Supports Spanish, German and English languages
Currently, the distribution supports Spanish, German and English languages on the boot menu of the ISO image, which has been designed to allow you to start the installation in normal or alternative mode, with support for netbook computers or other hardware components. You can also run a memory test or rescue a broken operating system.
It can only be installed in text mode
This is not a live system, which means that you can only install the distribution on a disk drive. The entire installation process takes place in text mode and will require at least 20GB of free disk space. Details about how to install the distro can be found on the ISO image, after exiting the Midnight Commander application.
