Redo Backup and Recovery is an open source and completely free software project built around one of the most easy to use and powerful utilities for performing system backup and restore operation without too much fuss.
The project is actually a minimal operating system derived from the world’s most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu, and built around the lightweight and minimal Openbox window manager as its default and only graphical desktop environment.
It is distributed as a minimal, dual-arch Live CD ISO image that supports both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers. Keep in mind though, that you must write the ISO image to a CD disc or a USB thumb drive in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC.
Redo Backup and Recovery has been designed in such a way that it can’t be installed on a local disk drive, as it runs entirely from the bootable medium (CD or USB). From the boot menu, the user can start the live system with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, perform a system memory check, as well as to verify the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a CD media).
Its graphical interface is simple, allowing you to easily create a backup image of your computer or completely restore from an existing backup, and traditional, featuring a single-panel layout and some essential utilities, such as a file manager, terminal emulator, image viewer, text editor, web browser, disk utility, partition editor, usage analyzer, file recovery, bootable USB creator and hardware lister.
It can be used to save and restore both GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems, automatically discovers local network shares to upload the backups or restore from existing ones, as well as to access your files and recover deleted documents.
All things considered, Redo Backup and Recovery is a great tool for system administrators and end-users alike who are looking for a fast, reliable and very easy-to-use solution for backing up systems and recover damaged disk drives.
