PUD GNU/Linux LXDE Edition 0.4.8.6
Availability, supported architectures, supported languages, boot options
The distribution is available for download as a single Live CD ISO image, which can be written to a blank CD disc using any CD/DVD burning software, as well as a Live USB archive that be easily deployed to a USB flash drive of 512MB or bigger.
From the boot prompt, users can try the operating system without installing anything on their computers, using one of the provided options (English, Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese), as well as to start an existing operating system installed on the first disk drive.
Beautifully tweaked Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment
As mentioned, the graphical session is powered by the LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) project, which features a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen. It can be used to access the main menu, launch applications, switch between virtual desktops, as well as to interact with running programs and the system tray area.
Among some of the installaed applications, we can mention VLC Media Player, Mozilla Firefox web browser, PCManFM file manager, and LXTerminal terminal emulator. Using the "Install" shortcut on the desktop, users can effortlessly install the operating system on a local disk drive.
All in all, the LXDE edition of the PUD GNU/Linux operating system is a low on resources desktop-oriented distribution engineered to be installed on low-end machines or computers with old hardware components.
