Welcome to the Lucid Lynx edition of Mythbuntu, a free and open source project that uses the latest Ubuntu, Linux kernel, Xfce and MythTV software to deliver a very powerful and easy-to-install-and-use DVR (Digital Video Recorder) solution.
Available for the 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms
Mythbuntu 10.04 was officially announced on February 16, 2012 along with the second third LTS release of the Ubuntu Linux operating system. However, this Mythbuntu version was not LTS (Long Term Support) and was supported until May 9, 2013. It can be downloaded as Live CD ISO images for the 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.
The boot loader of the Live CDs have been modified in this release and it will automatically start the live environment without any change to your computer. If you want to access the standard boot menu, press any key during the ten second timeout, so you can boot an existing OS from the first disk, check the integrity of the CD, perform a memory test or directly install the distribution.
The basic desktop got even cleaner in this release
Now that the previous version set that nice dark theme for the basic Xfce desktop environment used in Mythbuntu, the time has come for a clean up in order to provide a more professional operating system. It still includes the same minimal set of applications, among which we can mention Thunar file manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, VLC Media Player, and Synaptic Package Manager.
The Mythbuntu Control Center, Mythbuntu Frontend, Mythbuntu Log Grabber and HDHomeRun Config GUI will make your life even easier when installing and managing this unique operating system.
All in all, Mythbuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) is yet another great release of this powerful and extremely easy-to-use operating system specifically designed for turning old and semi-old computers into dedicated DVR systems. This release is no longer maintained and has been archived for historical purposes only.
