An anonymous Debian-based Linux operating system powered by Tor, Privoxy and I2P. #Anonymous Linux #Internet anonymity #Tor network #Tor #Privoxy #I2P
LullySec is an open source Debian-based distribution of Linux that includes various useful penetration testing utilities, a LAMP server, as well as a ready to use Wordpress blog installation. It uses the lightweight Xfce desktop environment, as well as the Fluxbox and IceWM window managers.
The operating system is distributed in multiple editions, a normal version that can be downloaded as a Live DVD ISO image or approximately 2GB in size, and a small edition distributed as a Live CD ISO image of approximately 700MB in size. Both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (amd64) hardware platforms are supported by the ISO images.
From the boot prompt, the user can start the live environment with default boot options, with the ‘no modeset’ option, by copying the contents of the ISO image to RAM, with the ‘no probe’ option, as well as to perform a system memory diagnostic test or access a help screen for more advanced boot options.
As mentioned, the default desktop environment of this Debian-based operating system is Xfce, which has been highly customized with a dark theme suitable for the hacker in you. It uses a single panel located on the upper part of the screen, from where the user can launch applications or interact with running programs.
In addition to the Xfce desktop, the distribution also include the minimal and extremely fast IceWM and Fluxbox window managers. Please note that the username and password for the Live session is 'user', the root password is 'root', the Wordpress and Scuttle username/password combination is user/user, and the RetroShare tool’s username is 'lullysec' with the 'user' password.
Among the pre-installed security oriented tools, we can mention TorChat anonymous chat client powered by Tor, Wireshark and Zenmap network scanners, Ettercap software suite for man in the middle attacks, EtherApe network monitor, GNUnet Secured P2P secure peer-to-peer networking, and Cryptkeeper encrypted folders manager.
Summing up, it is quite obvious that the distribution’s name has been inspired by the famous LulzSec black hat computer hacker group. It uses three fast and lightweight desktop environments and a neat collection of penetration testing tools on top of a stable Debian base.
