LiveParkes For Linux

LiveParkes is a free and open source Linux operating system, a distribution based on the pre-release version of the gNewSense 3 distro. It is an unofficial remix and uses the GNOME Classic desktop environment as its default and only graphical session.

The latest version of this operating system can be downloaded via Softpedia or its official website (see link above) as a single, dual-arch Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1GB in size, which means that you must deploy it to either a DVD disc or USB flash drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC. Supported architectures include 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386).

The boot prompt is quite minimal, allowing the user to directly start the live environment with default drivers and boot options or in failsafe mode, as well as to run a memory diagnostic test and boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive of your computer.

As mentioned, the default and only desktop environment of this distribution is GNOME Classic, which uses a two-panel layout. You can interact with running programs and cycle between virtual workspaces using the bottom panel, and launch applications from the top panel.

Default applications include the Inkscape vector graphics editor, OpenOffice.org office suite, GIMP image editor, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, Ekiga softphone, Empathy multi-protocol instant messenger, as well as the Epiphany and Iceweasel web browsers.

The Evolution email and calendar client, Liferea news reader, Transmission torrent downloader, Totem movie player, Rhythmbox music player, Brasero CD/DVD burning software, Cheese webcam viewer, and Disks disk management utility are also included.

Summing up, LiveParkes is nothing more than an unstable and unofficial remix of the current development release of the gNewSense 3 operating system, allowing the user to preview its upcoming features and functionality. We strongly suggest to not install this distribution on a production machine!
