    Linvo description

A multi-purpose and flexible Linux operating system

Linvo is a flexible and multi-purpose operating system that is based around Linux kernel and GNU (these operating systems are simply called "Linux", however they are GNU/Linux distributions). Linvo's goal is to be easy and efficient to use, however productive and reliable, as GNU/Linux is! Linvo has the best applications for everyday and professional use!

Linvo comes in desktop Live CD form, which means that it can run simply from one CD, without installing it on your hard drive. An installer is included in the CD, so you can install it if you want. Linvo Live CD uses software modules, so you can customize your Live CD easily and you can select what to install. Linvo also comes in installation media, from which you can modify your installation to perfectly fit your needs. For more information, see "Why Linvo".

    Product's homepage

    · Compatibility
    · Supports file formats used in many operating systems and even has an Windows compatibility layer (called Wine) which allows users to run Windows applications
    · Security and stability
    · Only proven software goes in Linvo, and in the open-source world, every known bug gets fixed very quickly
    · Easy to use, fast and beautiful desktop!
    · You also have the ability to choose between a bunch of different desktop environments
    · Only platform-independent and function-rich applications
    · The best possible selection is made

What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]

    · This is probably the last maintainence release of the GNOME2-powered 2010.12 series. It features a couple of bug fixes (e.g. dependency handling) an improvements (e.g. smooth download progress bar) to LinvoApp, the distinctive applications managment system. Unfortunately, some applications (mostly obsolete) have been removed from the website because they were not built right by the LinvoApp automatic builder, so now we're down to only 125 apps. Of course, LinvoApp is still beta and you can always use the traditional Gslapt to install software if you miss something which is not in the Applications category.
    · When using LinvoApp, you should also keep in mind that the first time an application is activated, the system is getting prepared for it (dependencies are installed), so it may take time.
