LinuxBBQ 520 is an open source distribution of Linux, a special edition of the LinuxBBQ operating system designed for Chinese-speaking users. It is based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system and features a highly customized Xfce as its default desktop environment.
Distributed as a dual-arch Live CDThis special edition of the LinuxBBQ operating system is distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image of approximately 700MB in size, designed to support for 64-bit and 32-bit hardware platforms. It can be written to either a CD disc or a USB flash drive of 1GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.
Boot optionsIt features a standard boot menu that allows the user to start the operating system with default boot options, with support for Intel graphics cards, with VGA support, in failsafe mode, with the ‘nomode’ option, by copying the contents of the CD to RAM or with SysV, as well as to run a memory test and boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive.
Customized Xfce desktop environment that is modern and extremely fastAs mentioned, the default and only desktop environment of this LinuxBBQ edition is Xfce. It is comprised of a top panel for accessing the main menu, launching applications and interacting with running programs, and a bottom dock (application launcher) for quickly launch your most used programs.
Default applicationsDefault applications include the Chromium web browser, Kingsoft office, DeaDBeeF audio player, VLC Media Player, Sylpheed email client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, GNU Paint digital painting software, as well as the Midnight Commander twin-panel file manager.
