Linux Mint Debian Edition Xfce is an open source distribution of Linux that uses the lightweight Xfce graphical desktop environment on top of a stable Debian GNU/Linux base. It’s an official Linux Mint edition.
$$This Linux Mint remix is distributed as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms, 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64). They have approximately 1GB in size each and can be deployed to either DVD discs or USB thumb drives of 2GB or higher capacity.
$$Linux Mint Debian Edition Xfce comes with a boot menu that is identical with the one used on other Linux Mint editions. It allows the user to boot the live system with default options or in compatibility mode, perform a system memory diagnostic test, boot from the local drive and check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a DVD media).
$$As mentioned, this special Linux Mint Debian edition is built around the Xfce graphical desktop environment, which has been tweaked to look traditional and familiar. It comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the panel, from where the user can navigate the main menu, launch applications and interact with opened programs.
$$Among the pre-installed software packages, we can mention the GIMP image editor, LibreOffice office suite, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Transmission torrent downloader, XChat IRC client, Banshee music player, GNOME MPlayer video player and VLC Media Player.
$$Summing up, Linux Mint Debian Edition Xfce is a great distribution of Linux for Linux Mint, Debian and Xfce lovers. It can be easily installed on a local drive by using the graphical installer tool provided on the desktop.
