Kwort Linux For Linux

Kwort Linux is an open source, free and stable distribution of Linux derived from the well known Slackware Linux operating system and built around the lightweight Xfce desktop environment, all in order to run perfectly on low-end machines or computers with old and semi-old hardware components.

The distribution is available for download as a dual-arch, installable-only Live CD ISO image of approximately 450MB in size, suitable for both old 32-bit (i386) and modern 64-bit (x86_64) computers.

The ISO image is hybrid, which means that it can be deployed to either a CD disc or a USB flash drive of 512MB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

The boot screen is very basic, allowing the user to mainly press the Enter key to install the system on a local drive. However, it is possible to add extra kernel parameters in case the default boot option doesn’t recognizes some special devices.

As mentioned, this is not a Live CD distribution, which means that it must be installed permanently on a local drive. The installer is text-based and requires you to choose a keyboard layout, partition the disk, as well as to add a root (system administrator) password.

In order to keep things lightweight and ultra fast, the distro uses the old school Xfce graphical session, which comprises of a taskbar located on the upper side of the screen and a dock (application launcher) on the bottom edge of the screen.
