KDE Reloaded Live CD For Linux

KDE Reloaded Live CD is an open source distribution of Linux based on the well known openSUSE Linux operating system and built around the KDE Plasma Workspaces and Applications project.

It has been designed from the ground up to be used for showcasing the latest features of the KDE desktop environment. It’s available for download as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported architectures (x86_64 and i686).

Users can use the live environment from either a USB thumb drive or a DVD+RW disc. It lets users to boot an existing operating system installed on the first disk drive or run a memory test directly from the boot prompt.

The live session can be started with default settings (recommended for all users) or in failsafe mode if you encounter hardware issues with the first option. Support for multiple languages and keyboard layouts is also included in the Live DVD.

It presents users with a very beautiful and modern desktop environment based on a development version of the KDE Software Compilation project. It features a dark theme with astonishing effects.

A bottom taskbar will allow users to access the main menu and launch applications, as well as to switch between the two virtual workspaces or interact with running programs and the system tray area functions.

Default applications include the Amarok and Tomahawk music players, K3b CD/DVD burning utility, KsCD Audio-CD player, Kaffeine video player, Konversation IRC client, Choqok micro-blogging client, KMail email client, as well as Rekonq, Konqueror and Mozilla Firefox web browsers.

It includes the KTorrent BitTorrent client, digiKam photo management software, Gwenview image viewer, Calligra office suite, KWrite text editor, Kompare diff/patch frontend, Kleopatra certificate manager, Sweeper system cleaner, and many other useful utilities.

Unfortunately, this distribution is no longer maintained by the openSUSE project, and the version distributed here includes an old release of the KDE desktop environment. We suggests to grab the latest stable version of the openSUSE KDE 4 Live CD instead.
