Available for download as a 32-bit Live DVD
The operating system is available for download as a 32-bit Live DVD ISO image, which means that you can use it on either 32-bit (i386) or 64-bit (x86_64) computers, but not before you write it on a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 4GB or higher capacity.
Minimal boot prompt
The boot prompt of the Live DVD is very minimal, allowing users to only boot the live environment with default boot options and drives or in safe graphics mode, in case the first option will not recognize their video cards.

The graphical desktop environment of Huayra GNU/Linux is classic, easy to use and productive, powered by MATE. It uses a single panel located on the upper side of the screen, from where users can launch applications or interact with running programs and switch between the two virtual workspaces, and a bottom dock (application launcher).
Includes numerous open source applications
Numerous open source applications are included in this Live distribution, among which we can mention the Blender 3D modeller, Inkscape vector graphics editor, Mozilla Firefox web browser, as well as a wide range of educational programs designed for children, students or teachers.
Overall, Huayra proves to be a safe, fast, free, stable and modern computer operating system specifically designed to be used on various educational institutions across Argentina. Huayra means wind in the Quechua language.
