Helal Linux Light For Linux

Helal Linux Light is an open source distribution of Linux derived from the Helal Linux operating system, which in turn is based on the world’s most popular distro, Ubuntu. When compared with the main Helal Linux edition, this one uses fewer software packages and a lightweight graphical desktop environment. It includes support for Arabic languages.

The Light edition of Helal Linux is distributed as a dual-arch, hybrid Live CD ISO image that has approximately 700MB in size, supports both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures, and can be deployed to a CD disc or a USB thumb drive.

When booting the Live CD from the BIOS of a computer, you’ll encounter a boot prompt that allows you to start the live system with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, start the installer directly, boot an existing OS from the first disk drive, as well as to perform a system memory diagnostic test.

As mentioned, the main emphasis of Helal Linux Light is on lightness. It uses LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) for the graphical interface. It uses an old-school two-panel layout.

Being designed from the ground up to be as lightweight as possible, Helal Linux Light includes a lightweight set of open-source applications. Among some of the them, we can mention the GIMP image editor, GNOME Paint drawing editor, GNU Paint digital painting tool, FileZilla file transfer client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger and Transmission torrent downloader.
