An awesome Linux operating system designed for desktop and netbook computers alike

editor's review

Haze OS is an open source, freely distributed and Linux kernel-based computer operating system built with passion and designed with speed, security and beauty in mind. It uses a graphical desktop interface that resembles the desktop environment of ElementaryOS.

A Live Linux distribution that supports the mainstream architectures

The operating system runs in Live mode, which means that you won’t have to install it in order to use it. Because of this, it’s distributed as a Live DVD ISO image that supports both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.

The boot prompt is standard and basic

No surprises here, as the the distribution uses a standard and basic boot prompt that can be found a wide range of Linux distribution derived from the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu.

From here, the user will be able to start the live system with default boot options or in safe graphics mode with basic video drivers, run a memory test, start the installer directly, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive.

One of the most beautiful graphical desktop environments ever made

Haze OS boasts one of the most beautiful graphical desktop environments ever made, which comprises of a panel located on the upper side of the screen, a dock (application launcher) on the bottom edge of the screen, as well as a clock/weather widget on the desktop.

Comes with a great selection of open source software

As expected, a beautiful interface must include a great selection of applications. Therefore, the distro comes with the Geary email client, Google Chrome web browser, LibreOffice office suite, VLC Media Player, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, Liferea feed reader, Scratch text editor, Nitro task manager and Stormcloud weather information software.

Bottom line

All in all, Haze OS is without no doubt one of the most beautiful distributions of Linux out there. It is based on Ubuntu and uses a stunning graphical desktop interface, as well as a great selection of software.
