Gentoo Linux LiveDVD
Gentoo Linux LiveDVD is a special edition of the famous Gentoo Linux distribution that allows anyone to test this Linux kernel-based operating system without installing it.
It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD
This is an official Gentoo project and it’s distributed as a Live DVD ISO image of approximately 3.5GB in size. It’s dual-arch, which means that it will run on both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.
Here’s how to use the ISO image to boot the live system
The user must burn the ISO image onto a blank DVD disc using any CD/DVD burning software or write it on a USB thumb drive of 4GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.
Put a CoW in your Boxen Edition
“Put a CoW in your Boxen Edition” is the name of the Live DVD ISO image, displayed on the boot menu, from where the user can start the live system for a specific architecture, perform a memory test, boot from the first or second disk, as well as to access extra boot images.
KDE Plasma is in charge of the graphical session
The default graphical desktop environment of Gentoo Linux LiveDVD is KDE Plasma, which provides users with a traditional and familiar interface that is both easy to use and productive, comprised of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen.
Contains a vast amount of open-source applications
Among the pre-installed applications, we can mention the Blender 3D modeller, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Dia diagram editor, Qtransmission torrent downloader, GIMP image editor, as well as Shotwell and digiKam photo management programs.
