Gajj Linux Cinnamon For Linux

Gajj Linux is an open source Ubuntu-based distribution of Linux designed especially for educational institutions who are looking for a free, productive, modern and easy to use operating system. This edition is built around the Cinnamon desktop environment.

The Cinnamon edition of Gajj Linux can be downloaded via Softpedia or its official homepage (see link above) as two Live DVD ISO images or approximately 4GB in size each, designed for the 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386) hardware platforms.

Please note that the user must burn these ISO images to blank DVD discs or write them on USB thumb drives of 4GB or higher capacity in order to boot them from the BIOS of a computer.

The boot prompt uses a custom background image, but includes standard boot options like the ability to boot the live environment with default drivers or in safe graphics mode, directly start the installer, run a system memory test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk.

Unfortunately, the Live DVD is designed to drop users to a shell prompt where they must use the “gajj” username (without a password) to log in. While the default desktop environment is Cinnamon, the system also includes the GNOME Classic graphical session.

Gajj Linux Cinnamon come with several open source Linux applications, including Scilab, MySQL Workbench, LAMP, BRL-CAD, QGIS, Netbeans, LibreOffice, Kingsoft Office, NS2, Blender, ClamTk, Banshee, FileZilla, GNOME MPlayer, Inkscape, Remastersys, Synaptic Package Manager, and many others.
