FreeSentral For Linux

FreeSentral is a free project that has been designed from the offset to be a full featured IP PBX system. It is a distribution of Linux derived from Mandriva. It includes an IP PBX (Private Branch Exchange) software that is fully configurable and based on open-source technologies.

It is distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that fits perfectly on a CD disc and has been designed to work on computers supporting the 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architecture.

From the Live CD boot menu, which is identical with the one of the Mandriva Linux distribution, the user can start the live system or boot an existing one from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.

The default desktop environment of the FreeSentral is built around the GNOME desktop environment, which provides users with a classic layout comprised of two panels. While the top panel can be used to access the main menu, the system tray area and launch applications, the bottom panel is mainly used for interacting with running apps or switch between the four virtual desktops.

Default applications include the F-Spot photo management program, Yate VoIP client, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Cheese webcam viewer, Rhythmbox music player, Totem video player, Kino video editor, Codeina GStreamer codec installer, Sound Juice Audio-CD extractor, TVtime television viewer, FM-Radio tuner, Brasero CD/DVD burning software, as well as Gedit text editor.

With FreeSentral you can define or group extensions, set a dial plan, set auto attendant, set call forwarding, as well as to enable direct inward calling, voicemail, music on hold and short dialing.
