As its name suggests, FortMacTux Games is a special edition of the FortMacTux Linux operating system that aims to deliver a performant gaming system. It is derived from the Slax operating system, which in turn is based on Slackware Linux, and uses KDE as its default and only graphical desktop environment.
It’s distributed as a 32-bit Live DVD
The Games edition of FortMacTux Linux is distributed as a Live DVD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit (i386) instruction set architecture. This means that while it is also bootable on 64-bit machines, it will only support 32-bit applications.
The Live DVD is hybrid, offers two boot options
The Live DVD is hybrid, which means that you can burn the ISO image onto a DVD disc or write it on a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer. It offers only two boot options, the ability to start the live system with normal configuration or perform a system memory (RAM) diagnostic test. Both options are editable.
KDE has been tweaked to look modern, includes a dock
The KDE 3.5 desktop environment included in FortMacTux Games has been tweaked to look modern. It comprises of a taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen and a dock (application launcher) located on the upper part of the screen. While you can use the taskbar to interact with running programs, navigate the main menu or access essential system functions, you can use the dock to launch your most used apps.

Being designed from the offset to transform any computer into a reliable gaming solution, FortMacTux Games comes pre-loaded with a great selection of games, among which we can mention FlightGear, Mega Mario, as well as a wide-range of KDE-specific games.
