A more than basic version of the Swift Linux operating system derived from Linux Mint Debian. #Minnesota Linux #Linux distribution #Swift Linux #Minnesota #Forensic #Distribution
Minnesota Swift Linux is a special edition of the Swift Linux operating system that includes the same graphical interface of the Diet Swift Linux distribution. It is derived from the Linux Mint Debian Edition GNOME and features the IceWM window manager.
The Minnesota edition of Swift Linux is distributed as dual-arch Live CD ISO image of approximately 700MB in size, engineered to support both 32-bit (i386) or 64-bit (amd64) computer platforms.
When booting the Live CD from the BIOS of a PC, using either a CD disc or a USB thumb drive, you will notice that the live system will start automatically in 10 seconds.
If you want to access advanced boot options, you’ll have to press a key on your keyboard during the 10-second timeout. Default boot options include the ability to start the live system in compatibility mode, perform a RAM diagnostic test, as well as to check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a CD disc).
As mentioned, the default and only desktop environment of Minnesota Swift Linux is IceWM, a very basic and low on resources window manager that looks like the graphical interface of the Windows 98 operating system.
When compared with the Diet flavor of Swift Linux, this edition drops the AbiWord and Gnumeric office applications and replaces them with the full featured LibreOffice office suite, comprised only of the Spreadsheet and Writer components.
Among other pre-installed applications, we can mention the GNOME MPlayer video player, Geany IDE, GDebi Debian package installer, BleachBit system cleaner, Synaptic Package Manager, Sylpheed email client, Transmission torrent downloader, Iceweasel web browser and mtPaint graphic editor.
